About Fleur

Fleur van Berge Henegouwen

My name is Fleur van Berge Henegouwen. I am a registered orthopedagoog-generalist (BIG registration number 39937818631) and a member of the NVO (Dutch Association of Educationalists and Pedagogues). Orthopedagoog-generalist is the Dutch specialised equivalent of a clinical child psychologist. I specialise in supporting and treating children, adolescents and their parents in their environment. I am the mother of two children and live in Hilversum. I work with children, adolescents, parents and professionals on questions related to development, behaviour and emotions.

My perspective

Children and adolescents develop confidence through experience. By practising, making mistakes, recovering and discovering that they are capable of dealing with challenges.

For this, they need adults who stay present and supportive. Adults who do not solve everything for them, but who guide them. Adults who understand what lies beneath behaviour and who can help put it into words.

My role is to explore, together with you, what is really going on. Not to label quickly and not to oversimplify, but to look carefully and thoughtfully.

My way of working

I have many years of experience working within multidisciplinary teams in healthcare organisations. There I gained extensive experience with complex questions, system dynamics and collaboration with other professionals.

In my previous work, I have seen how important it is to take the time to really understand a person and their environment, rather than relying solely on standardised protocols. In my practice, I consciously create that space, so that support can be tailored to what a child, adolescent and family truly need.

In my work I try to connect with children, adolescents and parents. What is not yet heard, seen of felt? Where does the situation get stuck? What do you need to feel safe and understood again?

From this perspective I started my own practice: small-scale and personal, without long waiting lists or complex referral procedures.

How I look at situations

I combine analytical thinking with personal involvement. Often there is not a single clearly defined problem, but a combination of personal characteristics, experiences and environmental influences.

Diagnostic perspective

I see assessment and diagnostics as a way to understand and explain what is happening. Not simply to attach a label, but to gain clarity together about what is going on and what this means for everyday life.

In contact

For parents I aim to be a thoughtful and clear professional who looks without judgement at what a child and family need. For children and adolescents I want to be someone with whom you can be yourself and where there is space to explore together what works.
